Alton Memorial Hospital
Alton Memorial Hospital is a 222 bed facility and a member of BJC Health Care; affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine. Alton Memorial Hospital is recognized for outstanding care in heart services, orthopedic surgery, oncology, GI, geriatrics and pulmonary medicine. The hospital has excellent support from the ED, Intensivists, Interventional Radiology and other subspecialty departments. As a mission-based, not-for-profit Hospital, Alton Memorial has served the River Bend area for 70 years and is preparing its facility for the next 70 years with a significant, carefully designed expansion. Plans are under way to build a new, 78,000-square-foot, patient wing to replace the original Hospital, now known as the Smith Wing. The new building will include 76 private patient rooms, enhancing safety and comfort. Targeted for completion in 2010, this 78,000-square-foot facility will advance the Hospital's mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.
