Hospital Description:
Carilion Stonewall Jackson is a non-profit, independent, 130-bed acute care facility located just off US 60. This facility serves the communities of Lexington, Buena Vista, and the neighboring counties with a service population of approximately 55,000.

The Emergency Department has seven beds, four of which are private. This includes a trauma code room, CAST, OB/Gyn, and ENT rooms. In 2002, the ED completed its move into a newly constructed state-of-the-art building. The department sees 16,000 patients per year and the physicians work 12-hour shifts. There is a Fast Track staffed by physician extenders from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., 6 days per week. The patients seen are mostly medicine-related and trauma is low, being approximately 5% of the patients. They also see about 40% pediatric patients.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be residency-trained and board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine or a Primary Care specialty with extensive Emergency Medicine experience.
