The Sanford Children’s Hospital opened its doors on March 11, 2009, serving patients and families in a healing environment built "just for kids."  Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sanford Children’s serves the healthcare needs of pediatric patients in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.

Our team of pediatric and family medicine physicians:

• Includes 40+ pediatric subspecialty trained physicians,16 general pediatricians and more than 150 family medicine physicians
• Works side by side with over 350 specially trained pediatric staff
• Provides the most comprehensive healthcare to children in our region

Sanford Children’s Hospital is the primary pediatric teaching facility of the Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota and will be home to the only pediatric residency program in the Dakotas. All of our pediatricians and pediatric surgeons serve as faculty members of the Department of Pediatrics of the Sanford School of Medicine, devoting time to teaching trainees in addition to their busy clinical practices.

Recreation

Sioux Falls has opportunities for everyone. Sioux Falls is the host to host to SF Spitfire Soccer, SF Stampede Hockey, SF Skyforce Basketball and many other college and high school sporting events. The Big Sioux River Recreation Trail offers more than 16 miles of paved trails for those who enjoy walking, roller-blading, and cycling. The Sioux Falls area has a multitude of public parks throughout the city, many with additional recreation opportunities as well as public picnic areas.

The Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science is the region's newest cultural, educational, and entertainment facility. The Pavilion features the Husby Performing Arts Center, Kirby Science and Discovery Center, Wells Fargo CineDome Theater, and Visual Arts Center. The Great Hall seats 1,835 people with acts including touring Broadway productions, music concerts, and dance programs.
