Sanford Children's Specialty Group and the Department of Pediatrics Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota is seeking two pediatric pulmonologists to join an expanding pulmonology practice.  The Division of Pulmonology cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses including asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pediatric sleep issues and apnea along with other general pediatric pulmonary diseases.  The Division is currently involved in clinical research. The opportunity for basic science research exists.

Sanford Children’s is a group of 30 pediatric sub-specialists with most pediatric subspecialists represented. Visit sanfordchildrens.org for physician profiles. 

 

Application for a pediatric residency is in process and expected to begin in 2011. Sanford Children's Health Research Center is in the development and recruitment process. This center will offer the opportunity for all levels of research to Sanford medical staff.

The first phase in the Sanford Children’s building project was completed in June, 2006 with the opening of the state-of-the-art Boekelheide NICU with 45 private family suites. The new Children’s Hospital opened in March 2009. The new children’s hospital provides 120 beds solely dedicated to caring for children.

Sanford Children’s Hospital is the flagship pediatric provider for Sanford Health, a large regional health provider that recently received a gift of $400 million dollars from well known philanthropist T. Denny Sanford. A significant portion of these funds are earmarked for pediatric care to enhance its mission of clinical service, education, and research. The children’s hospital is rapidly growing and provides a rich fertile environment for those interested in joining an energetic and supportive faculty.

Sanford Children’s Hospital is the primary pediatric teaching facility of the Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota and will be home to the only pediatric residency program in the Dakotas. All of our pediatricians and pediatric surgeons serve as faculty members of the Department of Pediatrics of the Sanford School of Medicine, devoting time to teaching trainees in addition to their busy clinical practices.
