Director-Osteopathic Medical Education

Faculty Position for Family Practice Residency Program Needed

Strong 9-9-9 dually accredited Family Medicine Residency with over 35-year history is seeking a board-certified Osteopathic family physician to join our existing faculty of seven.  The practice of OB is highly desirable but negotiable. The physician will serve as the DME and Program Director for the Osteopathic portion of this program.  This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a favorable malpractice climate and in a hospital-sponsored outreach clinic.  There is a very strong global health focus among residents, a strong Sports Medicine Fellowship (affiliated with the University of Notre Dame) and a friendly Osteopathic climate.   A new, world-class $355 million facility with integrated hospital/clinic EMR is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2009.

Applicant must be a member in good standing of the AOA, as well as the AODME (or eligible) and have successfully completed an approved AOA intership.  OMT knowledge and experience in practicing OMT in a clinical setting are required while dual board certification (ABFM & ABOFP), a command of Spanish and experience within the specialty are desired.

This position offers a competitive salary and a full complement of benefits.

Why Northern Indiana?

BIG CITY ADVANTAGES, SMALL TOWN WARMTH

Located about 80 miles east of Chicago, the South Bend/Mishawaka area is the commercial and industrial metropolitan center of north central Indiana with a population of more than 240,000. Indianapolis is less than a three-hour drive due south on US 31. The South Bend Regional Airport serves 700,000 passengers per year and the Amtrak and South Shore railroads provide daily runs to Chicago. Tree-lined neighborhoods, ample yards and elegant shops also distinguish this area. Community museums, theater, the symphony and a repertory dance group provide a variety of cultural entertainment.

The University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, and Indiana University South Bend offer an extensive schedule of seminars and programs. In addition to the seven high schools and 38 elementary and secondary schools in South Bend/Mishawaka, there are also private religious and secular schools. Of course, South Bend sports fans have a lot to cheer about since South Bend is the home of the Fighting Irish. Fans come from all over the country for football, basketball, baseball and soccer games. South Bend/Mishawaka is known as a progressive community that provides the cultural advantages of a larger city, combined with small town warmth.
