The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences at East Carolina University and the Brody School of Medicine seeks a Director of Echocardiography/Non-Invasive Cardiologist to join our existing 35 member faculty at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level with a tenure track or fixed term appointment. For candidates who prefer non-academic tracks, we offer an excellent financial package. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of administrative responsibilities including the establishment of peer review programs for echocardiography, maintaining consistency of procedures and interpretation of results in the Graphics and Echo labs, establishment of physician role responsibilities and requirements, development and implementation of policy and procedures, etc. This candidate will work closely with hospital administration. Board certification or eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease is required.
The Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at The Brody School of Medicine focuses on outreach programs, general consultation in both the outpatient cardiovascular clinic and a Women´s Cardiovascular Health Clinic. The Cardiology Department at The Brody School of Medicine will lead in the Opening Of the new East Carolina Heart Institute, a partnership between the Brody School of Medicine and Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The opening of the 120- bed, free standing state of the art heart hospital is projected to open in January of 2009. In addition, a comprehensive cardiovascular outpatient facility and 50,000 sq, ft of research and cardiology office space will open late 2008. This position is an immediate opening.

The new $150 million East Carolina Heart Institute at Pitt County Memorial Hospital (opening Fall 2008) will be the primary facility for cardiovascular services. The six-story, 375,000-square-foot tower will house clinical space, diagnostic services, and cardiovascular operating rooms. It will feature 120 beds for patients undergoing procedures for cardiac medicine, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery.
