Orthopedic Institute, PC, South Dakota, is seeking a board certified/board eligible orthopedist, fellowship trained in hand surgery to join a well established, successful group. The Orthopedic Institute is a private group practice with twelve orthopedic partners who provide a full scope of orthopedic services. There are four orthopedists with subspecialty in spine, six with subspecialty in sports medicine, one with subspecialty in hand and upper extremity, and one with subspecialty in foot and ankle surgery.
This premier practice is part of a sophisticated medical community, which has a referral area of approximately 200 miles that includes South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota and encompasses a population of 800,000. The Orthopedic Institute moved into a new 38,000 square foot, freestanding office building in 2001. The clinic has in-office x-ray and MRI and is attached by a skywalk to Avera McKennan Hospital.
The Orthopedic Institute has comprehensive staffing. Each orthopedic surgeon has a physician assistant and an executive assistant. The group employs a physician assistant to staff an Orthopedic Acute Care Clinic and employs two nurse practitioners to oversee hospitalized patients. There is very adequate office nursing staff plus a Masters level clinical nurse specialist who manages worker’s compensation patients.
The practice offers comprehensive orthopedic care which includes a Spine Center, Sports Medicine Center, and Upper Extremity Center. The surgeons have the opportunity to have an ownership interest in a surgical specialty hospital with overnight stay rooms. This position offers the opportunity to practice full spectrum hand surgery. The surgeons are consistently in the upper percentiles of MGMA benchmark surveys. Compensation is productivity-based, in a good reimbursement climate with a competitive first-year guarantee.
