We are looking for a third Pulmonologist/CC physician to join our practice.  Eastern Medical Associates is a multi-specialty group, which consists of (2) Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine, (3) Family Medicine, (2) Internal Medicine (1) Neurologist and (6) Hospitalists.

The practice is located in Goldsboro, an eastern North Carolina community one hour east of Raleigh and only 90 minutes from the beautiful North Carolina beaches.  Goldsboro has the population of 50-60,000 people and has been ranked in the “top ten” of desirable U.S. communities by Money magazine, and in the top five of locations in North Carolina.  All of my partners and myself have found the community worthy of these rankings.

Wayne Memorial Hospital, the only hospital in the area, is a 316-bed facility with excellent support services and full availability of subspecialties for consultation and serves as a referral facility for several smaller surrounding hospitals.

With 147 physicians and dentists on the Medical Staff, Wayne Memorial Hospital offers a full spectrum of specialties including anesthesiology, cardiology, critical care, dermatology, emergency medicine, endocrinology, family practice, gastroenterology, general and vascular surgery, gynecology, infectious disease, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics, oncology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, orthopaedics, otorhinolaryngology, pathology, pediatrics, plastic surgery, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine, radiation oncology, radiology, rheumatology, and urology.

The Hospital, which first opened in Wayne County more than 100 years ago, continues a tradition of excellence in local health care in its modern 316-bed, acute care facility. In keeping with its Master Facility Plan, the Hospital continually improves its campus to meet the current and future health care needs of the community it serves. Recent projects include a new Southeast Wing, which houses a new state-of-the-art Pharmacy, Rehabilitation Department and other support functions; an MRI Suite which includes a new patient lobby, two new MRI magnets, a modernized cath lab/specials procedures room, and an additional CT Scanner; all of which were added to the Imaging Department to meet the growing demand for diagnostic imaging. Recently expanded were the sleep lab and neurosurgical operating room. A new power plant and laundry are currently under construction. Other facility and technological improvements are either under design or in the planning stages in accordance with the Hospital’s Master Facility Plan.

For the fiscal year ending September 30, 2007, the Hospital had an average daily census of 176 adult and pediatric patients, plus an average newborn census of 9. Gross patient revenue of $321 million was 11% higher than the previous year. Financial condition is strong, evidenced by the “A2” rating received by Moody’s rating service for the recent bond issue.

Statistics show that over eighty percent of the Hospital’s inpatients are from Wayne County. Our patients pay classification for their hospital care is as follows: Medicare 45%, Medicaid 14%, Self Pay 8%, Commercial Insurance and Other 33%.
