Exciting Opportunity for an Otolaryngologist to Join a Rapidly Growing Hospital in Southern Illinois

The Otolaryngologist taking this position will enter a growing health care market and have the choice of setting up a private practice, joining a multi-specialty clinic or working as an employee of the hospital. Practice has low managed care and high reimbursement and salary/income are very competitive. 

As the new ear, nose and throat specialist, you will practice at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, ranked a Top 100 Hospital for the last two years by Solucient, an industry leader in hospital quality improvement. Memorial is a not-for-profit, patient focused hospital with a strategic plan designed specifically to create an efficient, safe, hassle-free environment for specialty physicians.

The hospital features a recently built surgical wing with seven modern surgical suites, one dedicated to open heart procedures. The hospital is also currently adding a two-floor addition to increase capacity and provide nearly all private rooms.

Surgeons at Memorial are well supported by experienced surgical staff with advanced-training, 24/7 coverage by anesthesiologists, a new hospitalist program and the latest in technology including all-digital imaging and archiving with 64-slice CT scanning, MRI and PET.

Memorial
Hospital of Carbondale, IL opened in 1959 and, with 129 beds, it part of the Southern Illinois Healthcare system and is the largest SIH facility and serves southern Illinois as a regional medical center. The hospital is the regional referral center for the southern sixteen counties of IL serving a population of 257,000.

It is home to Illinois' largest and most spacious birthing center south of Springfield and more women choose to have their babies at Memorial than any other hospital in the region.

It is also home to the leading open heart surgery and cardiac care program in southern Illinois, with outcomes that exceed national standards. The high quality cardiac services are possible through an affiliation with the Prairie Heart Institute at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois, a nationally recognized cardiac care provider.

The hospital is also home to a regional cancer treatment center, the only level II Neonatal intensive care unit south of Springfield, and the only pediatric unit in southern Illinois. It also provides neurosurgical services and rehabiliation through and alliance with Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

The hospital also features the area's most advanced imaging center with a new filmless, digital picture archiving network that makes all images made at the hospital instantly available on secure computers throughout the SIH system.  The hospital is affiliated with Southern Illinois University's Medical School through its Family Practice Residency Program.
