SLMVMC is located in Twin Falls, Idaho. Twin Falls is situated in the scenic area of South Central Idaho, located 72 miles south of famous Sun Valley, 121 miles southeast of Boise, and 114 miles west of Pocatello. Twin Falls has a population of 35,000 people with projected annual growth of 1.5%. The population of Twin Falls County is approximately 62,000.
South Central Idaho (Magic Valley) has a four-season climate. Daytime highs in July are about 91 (with comfortable overnight lows of 54), while January temperatures typically range from about 37 in the daytime to 19 overnight. The city receives relatively little precipitation, about 17 inches of snow and 9 inches of rain each year. Residents enjoy sunny skies 260 days annually, and the air is dry and clear. The Magic Valley area’s climate replicates the high desert plains, with fields of sage brush offering a beautiful back drop to the lushly green irrigated fields.
The economy has a solid base of industry. Although Twin Falls has long been an agriculture center (dairy, trout and crops), six of our largest employers are involved in growing and processing foods, the Magic Valley is a leader in other fields too including education, technology, healthcare, transportation and the retail/services sectors.
These employers are College of Southern Idaho, Dell Corporation, and Magic Valley Medical Center. Twin Falls has one major mall and a busy downtown area with numerous specialty shops. Twin Falls also has major specialty stores like Home Depot, Target, Costco, Old Navy, Best Buy, and TJ Maxx. Restaurant services include major chains like Outback Steakhouse, Chili’s and Applebee’s and many locally owned restaurants. The local flavors include Thai, Sushi and European Cuisines.
