OPPORTUNITY:        Pain Medicine Physician with experience and/or Fellowship Trained
Compensation: This opportunity is excellent for physician who is motivated to work in a fast paced office; the selected physician’s income will be based upon his production with a guaranteed base of $240,000 per year as well as benefits. The Practice has over 1,000 office patient visits per month and over 275 procedures. The Practice has a very smooth operation in a 5,500 square foot space with 10 exam rooms and 1 procedure room, “A state of the art” electronic medical record system has been operating for two years that the nurses and medical support staff use as scribes to record for the physician his documentation of the patient visits and procedures. The Office does not have a transcriptionist or transcription service due to the fact the EMR has replaced the need.
Most of the procedures are performed at the Bristol Surgery Center which is owned by the hospital. The physicians are able to be very efficient there because the Center provides two rooms at a time with adequate nursing help to allow the physicians to do a large number of blocks in a short period of time.  The Pain Medicine Physician Monthly Production Incentive Payment is likely to exceed his or her base pay. The practice has a flexible benefit package that can be designed to provide the benefits the physicians desire to have. The Practice will pay up to $15,000 for relocation costs and assist the Physician with house hunting, banking and other services that could be needed.
Ownership: The Practice owners have always treated new physicians in the anesthesia and pain management practices in an equable manner. The Practice culture is to work as a team to deliver quality care to patients. The new Pain Medicine Physician will be considered for an equal ownership share in one year. In addition the opportunity to become the Medical Director with an increase in duties and compensation could be offered in less than a year. The Practice is managed by an Operating Committee of two anesthesiologists and an Administrator. The Pain Physician would be expected to become a voting member of the Operating Committee during the first year after an orientation period. The Practice welcomes others ideas and comments because the goal is to operate a first class practice.
Medical Director: Our primary physician Dennis M. Aguirre, M.D. retired as an operating room anesthesiologist December 31, 2007. The Pain Center needs a Pain Medicine Physician for two reasons: First, to allow Dr. Aguirre to reduce his time practicing to half time. Second, the Practice has the opportunity to provide more services to an underserved population of pain patients in the region.   Dr. Aguirre looks forward to having a professional associate to discuss patient care and other subjects.
Brief Summary of Dr. Aguirre’s Credentials: graduate of University of Utah College of Medicine, Salt Lake City, Utah, Internship at The Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia, Residency, University of Alabama Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama, Additional Pain Management Studies for six months in Liverpool, England and Holland. Certifications: American Board of Anesthesiologists and Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine. Experience: 1987 to present Medical Director of Pain Center, 1982 to 2007 practiced in Bristol, Tennessee operating room anesthesia, Practices pain medicine since 1985.
Lifestyle: The Pain Practice is supported by the Pain Practice founders at Bristol Anesthesia Services who have exclusive contracts at Bristol Regional Medical Center and the local surgery centers. The eight anesthesiologists and the Pain Center Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurse take the call for pain patients. In addition during the pain medicine physician time off they provide coverage in the office seeing patients and doing procedures they are trained to do. Dr. Aguirre works 8 to 5 except for Friday when he is off.
The Practice is located near Interstate 81 in the City of Bristol, Tennessee which is located in “Tri-Cities” which consist of Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City. The Tri- Cities population is approximately 430, 000. Bristol is the smallest of the three cities with approximately 42,000, so the citizens of Bristol have a lifestyle of living in a small city with big city opportunities to enjoy the arts, theatre, sporting events, AAU Tournaments and university and medical school activities. NASCAR fans immediately think of racing when hearing Bristol the most popular race location on the NASCAR Circuit. Our physicians and families  live in the best region in the Southeastern United States for enjoying outdoor activities, with lakes, streams, trails for hiking, skiing, off road driving, cycling, sky diving and so much more! Consider what you can do with your time off in the evenings and on weekends when your associates will be covering your patients, plus having up to eight weeks of personal time off not having to worry about covering your patients. We encourage you to visit www.bristolchamber.org and www.movetonortheasttn.com to learn more about our city and activities.
Recruiting Visit Expenses:  The Practice will pay the cost of transportation, motel, and meals for the interview expenses for the physician and family visit. The Physicians and Spouses like to have a group dinner to meet the Physician and his Spouse. The interview is structured for the Physician Candidate to meet as many of the Practice’s physicians as possible. The physicians want to learn about the Physician Candidate and to provide all the information requested by the Physician Candidate. The Practice goal is to select the best candidate who will fit well into the Practice. The Physicians Goal is to associate will the Selected Pain Medicine Physician for his or her entire career.
Hospital: Southeastern Pain Management Center and Bristol Anesthesia Services are associated with Bristol Regional Medical Center, 348 bed regional center with a Trauma Level 2 designation. The hospital has been recognized as in the 100 Best Intensive Care Units and recently added a Cyber-Knife to this modern up to date hospital. The hospital is a part of the non-profit Wellmont Health System which consists of Bristol Regional Medical Center, Holston Valley Medical Center and small group of hospitals in region. The anesthesiologists have an excellent working relationship. All the anesthesiologists are active members of hospital committees, committee chairpersons, and officers. The Practice has an excellent referral base which is retained in part due to the relationship of the anesthesiologist with the excellent medical staff of the hospital. Visit the System web site to learn more about the medical community at www.wellmont.org
