Hospital Description:
A 257-bed acute care facility located on the Emerald Coast of Florida, Fort Walton Beach Medical Center has served the needs of the Fort Walton Beach area since 1974. With its recently-completed $50 million expansion and renovation project, the Medical Center offers a comprehensive open heart surgery program, a new 33-bed Progressive Care wing, a new 23-bed ICU/CCU, and a new MRI/CT Scan Suite. In 2005, the Cancer Care Center opened, providing a 33 private bed unit dedicated to meeting the medical and psychosocial needs of cancer patients and their families.  The Emergency Department consists of 22 treatment rooms/bays and a dedicated ED Radiology room. The Department sees approximately 28,000 patients annually and its ExpressCare unit sees an additional 14,000 per year. Pediatric volume is less than 5%. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is a Level II Emergency Department and also features a Level II NICU. With a 3:1 nurse to patient ratio, the department enjoys solid turnaround times.

Fort Walton Beach is located in the Florida panhandle in Okaloosa County. A top year-round tourist destination, this seaside community has over 20,000 residents.  Thousands of tourists flock to the beaches during spring break to enjoy the sugar sand of the “Emerald Coast.” With its subtropical climate and mild southern winds, area winters are mild and residents enjoy over 340 days of sunshine every year. The warm temperatures range from 70 - 90 degrees and keep the Gulf waters enjoyable throughout the year. Two major Air Force bases border Fort Walton Beach – Hurlburt Field and Eglin Air Force Base. Eglin is one of the largest Air Force Bases in the U.S. with more than 724 square miles.

Board-certified in Emergency Medicine or a Primary Care with extensive ED experience.
