Southern Illinois Healthcare has an associate director opportunity for Board Certified emergency medicine physicians through Southern Illinois Medical Services (SIMS). SIMS is a wholly owned subsidiary of SIH founded in 2006 to create an organization to provide employment opportunities to physicians in a broad variety of specialties.

Herrin Hospital (HH) is a 104-bed acute care hospital facility located in Herrin, Illinois. It is home to the acclaimed Acute Rehabilitation Center, part of a strategic alliance with the RIC, recognized annually since 1991 as the best rehabilitation hospital in America. Through this alliance, patients recovering from orthopedic, neurological, or other physically debilitating injuries receive high quality inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care close to home. Herrin Hospital had 20,807 emergency department visits in 2007.
Emergency medicine physicians at Herrin are supported by experienced staff with advanced-training, 24/7 coverage by anesthesiologists, a new hospitalist program and the latest in technology including all-digital imaging and archiving with 64-slice CT scanning, MRI and PET.
