Herrin Hospital (HH) is a 104-bed acute care hospital facility located in Herrin, Illinois.  It is home to the acclaimed Acute Rehabilitation Center, part of a strategic alliance with the RIC, recognized annually since 1991 as the best rehabilitation hospital in America.  Through this alliance, patients recovering from orthopedic, neurological, or other physically debilitating injuries receive high quality inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care close to home.  Herrin Hospital had 20,807 emergency department visits in 2007.

Herrin is a beautiful community nestled in Southern Illinois, near the Shawnee National Forest. Herrin is home to over 11,200 residents who enjoy an ideal quality of life, whether they are raising families or living out their retirement years. Herrin is located in the geographic center of the third most populous area in the state of Illinois. Herrin is southeast of St. Louis, Missouri, 107 miles, 102 miles west of Evansville, Indiana, 70 miles north of Paducah, Kentucky and 321 miles south of Chicago. Herrin was incorporated in 1900 and has grown into a community of diversified industry and business.

Herrin has excellent schools, active churches and is a very sports minded town. An outstanding modern swimming pool is in the Herrin City Park along with shelters, kiddy playgrounds, and ball diamonds .

Southern Illinois University

SIU is located in Carbondale. SIU is a major institution with a medical school. It has top-ranked sports programs, especially in football and basketball, and offers a full schedule of theater, live music, opera and other events at historic Shryock Auditorium and modern McLeod Theater.

John A. Logan Community College is just 10 miles from SIU and is one of the top-ranked community colleges in the country. It also offers many educational and cultural activities.

Local shopping includes many quality, national stores and, in southern Illinois, you are only two hours from St. Louis, three hours from Nashville or Memphis and six hours from Chicago. It is also a great area for your children with good schools, many of them newly built with above average student assessment scores.
