The new Dell Children’s Medical Center
of Central Texas is located on
approximately 32 acres of the old Austin Mueller airport site. When
completed, it will be a four-story full service pediatric facility that
will contain approximately 475,000 square feet of new hospital. A
three-acre fully landscaped Healing Garden will be located to the south
of the patient bed towers.
The Dell Children Medical Center of
Central Texas will open its doors in June 2007. The 170-bed facility
will be the first hospital in the world to have Platinum Status under
the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program sponsored
by the U.S. Green Building Council. When completed, Dell Children’s will
be three times larger than the current Children’s Hospital. The total
cost of the project is $200 million.
Austin is
