The Surgical Clinic of Central Arkansas is seeking a general thoracic surgeon to join their well-established, large, multi-specialty surgical practice. The recruitment need is to plan for the approaching retirement of the existing thoracic surgeon in the group.

The current surgeon performs roughly 400 surgeries per year. The practice is a full spectrum thoracic practice with an especially large number of esophageal cases. The practice does not include cardiac or vascular work. The practice utilizes VATS technology.

The other surgeons in the practice specialize in general, laparoscopic, bariatric and transplant surgery. There is enough thoracic business to support a surgeon doing 100% thoracic work but general surgery cases can be performed as desired. The thoracic surgeon shares in the general surgery call within the group which occurs roughly 1 night per week and every 4th weekend.

The position is employed with a one year income guarantee. There is possibility for bonus based on production. Partnership is available within 3-4 years and the financial entry is easily manageable.

This is an excellent opportunity to join and eventually take over arguably the largest thoracic surgery practice in the state of Arkansas.

In addition to the excellent surgical opportunity that is available, there is much that the community of Little Rock has to offer. It is located in Central Arkansas with access to many outdoor activities as well as cultural experiences. It is easy to understand why Arkansas is called the Natural State from the many rivers, lakes, parks, hiking trails and camping sites readily available and in close proximity. Little Rock boasts the Little Rock Zoo, Arkansas Arts Center, Arkansas Symphony, The Repertory Theater and The William J. Clinton Presidential Library, to name a few.

About Baptist Health Medical Center

BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center - Little Rock is the largest institution under the BAPTIST HEALTH banner. With a full line of services available, BHMC-LR is equipped to cover the full continuum of health care, from birth to support at lifes' end.

BHMC-LR has always been the leader in heart care and heart transplantation. The need for donor hearts far exceeds the availability. BHMC-LR now offers the latest technology for helping the 5,000,000 Americans suffering from congestive heart failure - the Heart Mate. The HeartMate device is implanted alongside the patient's heart to help the natural heart's pumping capability when required, for activities such as climbing the stairs. The HeartMate allows patients once confined to the ICU to return home and live with very few restrictions while awaiting a transplant. This lowers the costs to the patient and may improve their overall well-being. BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center - Little Rock was the first hospital in Arkansas to implant this life saving device.

Voted the "Best Place to Have a Baby" for the third year in a row, BHMC-Little Rock Women's Center has expanded and renovated the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to serve premature infants and their families even better!

BHMC-Little Rock opened its Outpatient Center expansion in November of 1998. This 123,000 square-foot facility located on the southern side of the Little Rock Campus, houses the BAPTIST HEALTH Breast Center, BAPTIST HEALTH Heart Center, CARTI and several physician offices.

BAPTIST HEALTH MedFlight is a state-of-the-art air ambulance service that covers the state and the only air ambulance service to make flights where a helicopter pad is not available. This gives MedFlight the ability to serve critically injured patients throughout the state.
