Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Rheumatology Opportunity
Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Baker City and Saint Alphonsus Medical Group has an excellent full time employment opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a clinic based practice located in rural Baker City, Oregon.
Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 360+ provider multispecialty group practice seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care and willing to support a growing Rheumatology Practice in Baker City, Oregon, as part of a dedicated Rheumatology Practice program within a multi-specialty medical group and medical office framework.
Responsibilities for this opportunity include clinical management of the Rheumatology Practice health services patients in tandem with and under the direction of the employed Rheumatologist. This involves direct management of the patient, which may include, but is not limited to the following procedures and services: exams, acute illness, injections and chronic disease management, et al. The provider will also ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility and request timely consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
The clinic schedule for this opportunity includes scheduled days during the work week Monday through Friday, with no less than 36 hours of scheduled patient contact time. In addition to scheduled clinic visits, this position may require scheduled patient education sessions that may take place outside of typical work days and/or hours.
Requirements for this opportunity include completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program, Oregon licensure and valid controlled substance registration with Oregon Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
The qualified candidate will exude passion about health issues and demonstrate evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills and problem solving abilities. The provider must hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the Oregon Board of Pharmacy and the DEA. The desirable candidate will also have prior healthcare experience in a clinic setting, or residency program.
SAMC - Baker City utilizes NexGen electronic health record (EHR), therefore experience with electronic health records is also advantageous.

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Baker City (SAMC – Baker City) is a critical access hospital in eastern Oregon with a Level IV Emergency Department (roughly 7,500 visits per year). The hospital has two monitored critical care beds and 19 beds in a medical-surgical inpatient nursing unit; inpatient services also include a step-down unit. The hospital also has two spacious ORs with 24-7 CRNA coverage. On-site ancillary services include: lab, radiology (80 slice CT), ultrasound, respiratory therapy, IV infusion including chemotherapy. Mobile MRI services are also available on a weekly basis.
The hospital's active medical staff includes but is not limited to the following: an Orthopedic Surgeon, a General Surgeon, an Ophthalmologist, four Family Practitioners, a Family Practice/Sports Medicine physician, an Internist, a Rheumatologist, etc. Visiting specialists provide on-site clinic services on the hospital campus at least monthly and include the following specialties: ENT, Pulmonary Diseases and Sleep Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, General Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Medical Oncology, Dermatology, and a Foot and Ankle Orthopedic clinic. Moreover, the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group has an extensive array of subspecialties available on a consultative and referral basis and the System's tertiary care regional medical center, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, is an ACoS certified Level II Trauma Center in Boise, Idaho. SAMC – Baker City also is part of the Saint Alphonsus telemedicine clinical network, integrating telemedicine into the patient care experience with its remote presence robots in order to provide healing and hope close to home.
