Performs and/or reviews health histories and performs assessment of the woman during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum.
Identifies indicators of risk in pregnancy and performs appropriate interventions.
Performs routine laboratory, radiology, screening, and therapeutic procedures.
Implements the nurse-midwifery plan of care within prescribed nurse-midwifery interventions and procedures as appropriate and in accordance with nurse-midwifery care.
Prescribes appropriate medications and instructs patients effectively in their use during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum.
Develops and coordinates all referrals to MDs, PHNs, nutritionists, social workers, diabetic counselors, mental health counselors, and WIC.
Admits patients with conditions requiring hospitalization in accordance with hospital by-laws and approval of the supervising physician.
Manages and performs spontaneous vaginal delivery and facilitates the newborns’ adaptation to extra-uterine environment.
Reviews high risk patients at High Risk Conference weekly, documents changing medical plans and clearly identifies MD role in the management process in the written record
Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
· Active, unobstructed Colorado Medical License, or the ability to obtain one
· Ability to complete St. Mary’s credentialing process
