The Division Urgent Care at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City is seeking both part-time and full-time board certified/eligible General Pediatricians for its Urgent Care East facility.Urgent Care East is an urgent care center staffed by pediatric-trained physicians and mid-level practitioners. It offers on-site labs, x-rays, respiratory treatment, intravenous hydration, and medication administration. The physicians work in cooperation and collaboration with community primary care providers. The position primarily involves clinical responsibilities. Physicians must be BLS and PALS certified and must be comfortable caring for pediatric patients with urgent medical needs. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Urgent Care Eastern Jackson County provides care to pediatric patients with illnesses or injuries that require prompt medical treatment. Procedures performed in urgent care include minor laceration repairs, foreign body removals and incision and drainage of simple abscesses. We work with community pediatric caregivers for continuity of care for our pediatric patients and families. The Urgent Care Center operating hours are from 12:00 noon – 10:00 p.m. seven days a week and 365 days a year. Children's Mercy utilizes Cerner electronic medical records for all records. Comfort with working with electronic medical records is a requirement.                                                              

The duties and responsibility of this position are primarily clinical with administrative and academic components intricately integrated in to the practice. Physicians are expected to apply for appointment at an Assistant Professor rank or greater with the University of Missouri– Kansas City School of Medicine. Physicians have the option of choosing either a clinical or scholarly tract, with the scholarly tract providing opportunities for leading or collaborating in various research activities within urgent care and beyond. Physicians also have the opportunity to serve on hospital and section committees to support quality improvement efforts, clinical practice guideline development and other initiatives.
