The Division of Urgent Care at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City is seeking full-time board certified/eligible General Pediatricians for its Northland Urgent Care. The Children's Mercy Northland facility houses an urgent care center and subspecialty outpatient clinics, staffed by pediatric-trained staff. It offers on-site labs, x-rays, respiratory treatment, intravenous hydration, and medication administration. The position includes primary clinical responsibilities. Physicians must be BLS and PALS certified and must be comfortable caring for pediatric patients with urgent medical needs.

Northland Urgent Care provides care to pediatric patients with illnesses or injuries that require prompt medical treatment. This position will be working in an acute care setting providing care typically seen in urgent care. Procedures performed in urgent care include minor laceration repairs, removal of foreign bodies, and incision and drainage of simple abscesses. The Children's Mercy urgent cares utilize Cerner electronic medical records for all records. Comfort with working with electronic medical records is important. We work with community pediatric caregivers for continuity of care for our pediatric patients and families. The Urgent Care Center hours of operation are from 12:00 noon – 10:00 p.m. seven days a week and 365 days a year.

The duties and responsibility of this position are primarily clinical with administrative and academic components intricately integrated in to the practice. Physicians are expected to apply for appointment at an Assistant Professor rank or greater with the University of Missouri– Kansas City School of Medicine. There are opportunities for teaching, as well as collaboration in various research activities within the Division. Physicians have the opportunity to serve on hospital and section committees to support Q.I. and other initiatives.
