WHO WE ARE

Franciscan Health Michigan City is proud to follow our founding mission to care for everyone who comes through our doors. A trusted leader in providing faith-based, integrated healthcare in Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan, Franciscan Health Michigan City works closely with physician groups, outpatient centers, fitness centers and other healthcare providers to provide comprehensive care without duplication of services.

Franciscan Health Michigan City, opening on January 12, 2019, is a new hospital dedicated and specifically built to meet the needs of those in LaPorte County, Indiana and the surrounding communities. With the highest attention to detail and state of the art equipment, this hospital is second to none.  The new Franciscan Health Michigan City will be located on an 86-acre site at the northwest corner of U.S. 421 and Interstate 94. It has 123 inpatient beds and features the latest in technology and equipment in the cath lab and operating rooms.

Our new facility offers high-quality care and services with the newest equipment in the cardiac catheterization lab, operating rooms and diagnostic imaging. There are safety improvements throughout the new hospital including: house-wide physiological monitoring, centralized telemetry (cardiac) monitoring, interactive TV/Patient Education system, electronic room signs linked to Epic (the electronic medical record system) for real time updates on diet, safety precautions, fall risk status, etc.

Pediatrics are part of the 4th floor medical/surgical department. We have six rooms secured with the HUGS infant security system.

There are eight open and two shelled operating rooms. The average size of the eight operating rooms is 650 square feet.

The total size of the Emergency Department is 15,150 square feet.

 Services include:

• OB department operating room suite for c-sections.
• IMPACT center for pre-surgical prep of total joint and spine cases. 
• 10-bed observation unit adjacent to the ED for medical observation and disposition with a typical length of stay of 24 hours or less.

The area is home to outstanding educational programs – including the state’s first construction trade apprenticeship program and energy academy. Not to mention colleges and universities including Valparaiso University, Purdue University, Indiana University and the University of Norte Dame, all within an hours’ drive.

Meet our Provider Liaisons

Bonny Hildebrand is one of our Franciscan recruiters for Northwest Indiana. She joined Franciscan Physician Network in 2020 and comes with over 20 years of healthcare experience. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from the University of Alabama. In her spare time, she delights in experimenting in the kitchen, hiking National Parks and exploring the world. Her ultimate goal is to build relationships with physicians and APP’s and connect them with opportunities with the FPN family where they can call home.
