Memorial Hospital of Carbondale is the largest hospital in the SIH family and a tertiary care provider.  The hospital is home to Prairie Heart Institute Southern Illinois Healthcare, the region's first primary stroke center, a regional cancer program including a comprehensive cancer center, da Vinci surgical technology, the only dedicated pediatric unit and Level II-plus special care nursery in southern Illinois and largest and most spacious birthing center south of Springfield.  Memorial has just underwent a $56 million modernization and expansion of the intensive care unit and surgical department to meet the growing demand for sophisticated, specialty care.

Herrin Hospital lies about ten miles to the east of Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. It hosts 114 beds and serves as our system’s center for Rehabilitation Services, Bariatric Surgery, and the Bone and Joint Institute for the system. Other features include:

St. Joseph Memorial Hospital

Purchased in 1995 from the ASC Health System, St. Joseph is the only Catholic facility in the Southern Illinois Healthcare family. A 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Murphysboro, St. Joseph offers the
