Mental Health Therapist
Children In Need of Services (CHINS) is currently seeking to hire Counselors and Social Workers to provide counseling services to children and their families, marriage and family therapists. Enjoy working in a family friendly setting that focuses on early attachment theory and trauma informed interventions. Our caseloads remain very low (25-30 for full time) so that we may be supportive of families/clients needs and offer quality services. Program Overview:
CHINS provides counseling for children (and their families) from age 0 to 18, who are having problems at home or school, including problems associated with divorce, abuse, trauma, aggressive behavior, anxieties, fear or social problems. Through early intervention, CHINS counselors help families improve relationships and reduce problems in the home and community. CHINS counselors utilize Play Therapy in working with younger children as well as Infant Mental Health philosophy and the Circle of Security, a well-researched model of assessing and improving parent/child relationships. It is not mandatory that you utilize play therapy or practice Infant Mental Health. We are open to providing new forms of therapy such as art therapy and we have a beautiful and roomy center from which to operate. We are situated in one of the most beautiful areas of New Mexico in Alamogordo. We sit at a warm 4000 foot elevation with White Sands National Monument just to the west and the Sacramento Mountains reaching over 9,600 foot elevation, just 20 minutes east. We are centered in an outdoor paradise with an abundance of outdoor activities available.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for providing counseling services to parents and children ages 0-18 and their families, including intakes, assessments, treatment plans, individual, family, case coordination with CYFD Child Protective Services, and group counseling. This position includes opportunities to be involved in program development as we continue to grow services for young children and their families. To include learning age appropriate therapy techniques for children of all ages; along with parent and family support.
Requirements:
Licensure in New Mexico, Master's Degree Clinician (LMHC, LPCC, LMSW, LISW,LAMFT or LMFT). Licensed in accordance with requirements of the New Mexico Social Work Practice Act or the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Act, with required staff supervision and training.
