*Overview*
This individual is responsible for optimizing patient care quality and efficiency for a well established ophthalmologist and surgeon. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional proficiency and skills within the scope of their licensure and be able to develop their optometric practice within the medical/surgical setting. In this role, the individual will be required to perform eye examinations, see post-op patients, conduct advanced refractometry, and prescribe corrective lenses and contact lenses. This individual will work alongside experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists, and a fully trained team of support staff.

*Responsibilities*

1. Co-manage medical/surgical patients with the ophthalmologist whenever possible.

2. Conduct patient exams within the scope of their license.

3. Conduct emergency patient exams.

4. Perform pre- and post-operative checks for patients undergoing eye surgeries.

5. Diagnose eye defects, such as myopia, astigmatism, and glaucoma.

6. Maximize contact lens exams.

7. Provide contact lens instruction to patients on insertion and removal.

8. Manage and administer contact lenses operationally.

9. Manages contact lens department operations (inventory and ordering, including but not limited to lens supplies and solutions)

10. Conduct diagnostic testing as required and provide analysis to the physician and patient management recommendations.

11. Inform patients of diagnostic test results after reviewing them with the medical director.

12. Refer patients to optical as appropriate.

1. Opens/closes examination rooms as needed.

2. Oversees testing equipment and assists the practice administrator in diagnosing issues and coordinating machine repairs with vendors.

3. Organizes exam rooms and drug cabinets.

4. Works with clinical staff to call patient prescriptions to the pharmacy or submit medication requests via the practice's EHR system.

*Leadership and Training*

1. Demonstrates practice core values in all interactions with patients, staff, and other providers.

2. Develop a leadership role in the practice to assist the medical director.

3. Provides quarterly training and guidance to the practice's technicians and scribes.

Pay: $117,002.65 - $140,906.41 per year
