Job Description

The Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a full-time Lead Consultation/Liaison (C/L) Psychiatrist who will oversee the C/L team at a major teaching hospital that’s also one of just two Level I trauma centers in the area.

Responsibilities include working with residents, students, and colleagues (including NPs) to address consultation needs from non-psychiatric services such as Internal Medicine, Surgery and Neurology. The service is busy and dynamic, with a strong support team including residents, an additional psychiatrist, and a NP. UT Health has a large resident program in the psychiatry, with two residents at a time rotating through the C/L team.

Ideal candidates are experienced general psychiatrists. Previous consultation experience or a C/L fellowship is preferred; however, the team is highly supportive and will offer mentorship and training when needed. Leadership or learning positions may also be available for candidates with extensive experience.

Position Details:

  • Full-time role with Monday to Friday schedule; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Rotating call with 15 other Psychiatrists
  • Oversee the consultation team at a major teaching hospital that covers a wide range of specialties
  • Work with residents, students, and colleagues (including NPs) to address consultation needs from non-psychiatric services
  • Additional duties include clinical teaching, rounding, and didactics
  • Strong support team including residents, 1 psychiatrist, and 1 NP
  • Mentorship and training opportunities are available

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation is based on experience; additional amount provided for dual board certification
  • Incentives and bonuses are available based on RVU targets

  • Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available
  • CME funds of $1,300 per year

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be a board-certified/board-eligible psychiatrist
  • Focus on general psychiatry is preferred
  • Both new graduates and experienced candidates are welcome to apply
  • Consultation experience is preferred, but not required as the team is willing to train as needed
  • Leadership opportunities may be available for candidates with proper experience
