Mission or Goal of Unit: 

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a BE/BC, General / Comprehensive Otolaryngologist / Head and Neck Surgeon to join a robust and growing academic practice. 

Chief Purpose of this position:

VCU Health and the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery provides the full range of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery services and seeks an applicant that will contribute to continued growth in state-of-the-art patient care, academic achievement, and resident training. 

Salary and academic appointment will be competitive and commensurate with experience. 

Position Responsibilities: 

Clinical - This is the area of primary focus as a clinical faculty MD. Faculty member will demonstrate excellence in provision of care and treatment of patients within the discipline. Faculty member will demonstrate responsibility toward growth of individual clinical practice and referral base. Faculty will participate in multi-disciplinary clinical endeavors. Average faculty effort ~90%.

Teaching - Faculty member will participate in the teaching of residents, medical students and other students & observers. Provide CME lectures for professionals. Average faculty effort ~10%.

Service - Faculty member will serve on departmental, Health System and/or University committees as needed. Service in a professional capacity in their field in such areas of reviewer, external committee member, conference organizer, etc. are encouraged. Average faculty effort nominal.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Board certified/eligible in otolaryngology
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia upon hire
