Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Registered Dietitian to conduct surveys and investigations within adult care and nursing home facilities. This role involves evaluating nutritional services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and investigating complaints related to dietary care to uphold the highest standards of resident health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field
  • Licensure: Current credential as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN); must maintain state licensure.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a medical facility, preferably a nursing home, is required.
    • Two (2) years of experience performing nursing home surveillance activities, preferred.
  • Certification: Ability to obtain Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) certification within 12 months of employment, required.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate positive customer satisfaction in situations that are adverse or in controversy.
    • Ability to successfully work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to relate effectively to providers, physicians, senior medical and administrative personnel, and residents/patients.
    • Superior investigative and analytical skills with a proficiency in conducting interviews with facility staff, residents, and families.
    • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site surveys and complaint investigations at adult care and nursing home facilities.
  • Evaluate nutritional care services for compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Interview facility staff, residents, and families as part of the investigative process.
  • Analyze findings and prepare detailed reports, including Statements of Deficiencies.
  • Assess the adequacy and implementation of corrective action plans (Plans of Correction).
  • Provide expertise on dietary standards and nutritional care requirements.
