Louisville

Louisville a one-of-a-kind place with universal appeal. It's the friendly faces and warm welcome of people throughout the community that keep visitors coming back for more of Louisville's genuine hospitality.

Louisville, Kentucky is a unique blend of old and new, charm and sophistication, urban and antique. From the scenic view of the mighty Ohio River to the easy pace of the Churchill Downs backside, Louisville is a recreation resource for visitors of all tastes and all ages. Its all part of the southern hospitality found here in Louisville…Looavuhl…or Looeyville…your kind of place, any way you say it!

Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health are combining to form a new, nonprofit Catholic health system focused on creating healthier communities. With no geographic overlap in hospital service areas, the combination brings together two leading health systems, allowing the organizations to expand their mission of service and create a healthier future for people and communities across 28 states.

The new health system will build a stronger operational and financial foundation to expand access to quality care, build upon complementary resources and capabilities, and reinvest in critical areas to accelerate improvements in care delivery that promote the shift from sick-care to well-care.

We will continue building upon our shared healing ministry of providing quality health care for all people with compassion. With strong leadership, sound strategic direction, commitment to ministry, and thoughtful stewardship, the new system will be positioned to create a healthier future for our people and communities.

Who is Catholic Health Initiatives?

Catholic Health Initiatives, a nonprofit, faith-based health system formed in 1996 through the consolidation of four Catholic health systems, expresses its mission each day by creating and nurturing healthy communities. One of the largest health systems in the nation, Englewood, Colorado-based Catholic Health Initiatives operates in 17 states with 100 hospitals, including two academic health centers and major teaching hospitals as well as 30 critical-access facilities; community health services organizations; nursing colleges; home health agencies; senior living communities; and other facilities and services. In fiscal year (FY) 2017, Catholic Health Initiatives provided $2.1 billion in charity care, community benefit, and unpaid cost of government programs.

Catholic Health Initiatives and its organizations are Equal Opportunity Employers and support a drug-free work environment.
