Job Summary


Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky is seeking a Cardio thoracic Surgeon to lead an established group of surgeons in growing their comprehensive cardiac surgery program.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience. The ability to build consensus among colleagues and provide leadership to quality and safety initiatives in the OR are central to the success of this physician role.   Call will be shared equally 1:3.

  • Aortic Aneurysm Surgery

  • Aortic Valve Surgery

  • Coronary Bypass Surgery

  • Minimally invasive Heart Surgery

  • Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement surgery

  • Open heart surgery

  • Valve repair and replacement surgery

  • Major aortic surgery

  • Coronary bypass

  • Beating heart cardiac operations

  • Arrhythmia surgery (the MAZE operation)

  • Cardiac assist devices

  • Ventricular restorative procedures

  • Heart transplantation

Education and Experience

  • Board Certified - or eligible.
  • Minimum 5 years out of training
  • Extensive leadership experience
  • Experience in program development

License/Certification:

  • Kentucky Licensure.

Essential Duties:

  • Understand, support, and implement the mission of the facility to deliver health care to those in need in the performance of all job responsibilities.

  • Ensure that patient satisfaction meets or exceeds standards set by the facility.
  • Educate patients on both clinical and managed care.
  • Participate in clinic and network task forces as requested and appropriate.
  • Function as an effective clinic team member.
  • Meet productivity standards.
  • Effectively use clinic financial and other performance information.
