Position Summary: The town of Bethel can be found on the Kuskokwim River 40 miles from the Bering Sea and 400 miles air distance from Anchorage. It is the hub for 56 surrounding villages providing supplies like food, fuel, medical care, and more. Bethels population is about 5,665 individuals who call this town home. It is the largest bush (rural) community in Alaska. The Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation is located in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region that is approximately the size of Oregon and covers 75,000 square miles and is home to over 28,000 patients. This facility has a fully accredited 50-bed general acute care facility. They offer Primary Care Services, Inpatient services at the Bethel Hospital, specialty services, pediatric care, emergency services, behavioral health counseling treatment services, dental and optometry clinics, home care services, and more.
This facility is in need of an Internal Medicine Physician who will be responsible for serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon – Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50 – bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.
Must have completed an accredited medical school.
Must have completed a residency training program and be board eligible or board certified (unless specific exception is made) by the appropriate board of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.
Must have Alaska State License and DEA License.
Must have the computer skills needed to access computerized medical records.
Needs the skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of their specialty.
Ability to supervise medical students, residents, physician extenders and community Health Aide clinic practice.

The communities of Bethel has so much to offer such as: 3 lane swimming pool and exercise gym, a movie theater, arts and craft stores and much more. In the summer times many of the residents are busy fishing and hunting for the winter.
Some of the bid events that occur in Bethel every year is the Kuskokwim 300, which is a sled dog race as well as the Cama-I Dance Festival that bring everyone in for all the surrounding villages.
