Vascular Surgery - Physician Assistant
The Division of Vascular Surgery at University of Minnesota seeks 1 board certified Physician Assistant (PA) to join their clinical practice at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and outreach clinics.
This is a tremendous opportunity to practice independently, while being part of a renowned vascular care team - which consists of vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, residents, fellows, nursing staff and registered vascular technologists - at a dynamic academic medical center setting. The division is looking for a motivated PA who is driven to be a leader in the field.
In this role, the PA will:
Practice in a combined inpatient and outpatient clinical practice setting.
Responsibilities will include daily in-patient ward rounds with resident team.
Optimization of care plan, algorithm development, and coordination of hospital discharge.
Evaluate and treat new vascular patients independently in the clinic setting.
Refer patients to the appropriate vascular surgeons within the department and/or other specialists accordingly.
Extremity wound care – debridement, dressing, VAC placement, and Unna’s Boot placement would be beneficial.
Educate patients and families regarding disease process, interventions, and postoperative or post-procedure care.
Actively participate in staff education, research, conferences and administration activities.
Practice Site: University of Minnesota Medical Center
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Have a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
Previous patient care experience in a surgical specialty is preferred. Ideal candidate would have 3 years of vascular surgery experience.
