Internal Medicine Physician needed to care for our Veterans - Academic Opportunity!

The West Haven, CT VA Healthcare System is searching for a smart, thoughtful, caring physician to join us in Primary Care.

Duties: The position is for a full-time internist and would involve providing primary care to a panel of patients, as well as precepting medical residents and medical students as a clinician educator with an academic appointment at Yale University. The physician will also supervise inpatient and medicine consult care, each for 1 month each year.

We seek a physician who is highly skilled in the management/treatment of a patient's primary care needs, including preventive, chronic and urgent care. The physician will operate as a member of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). The PACT consists of the Physician, RN Care Manager, a LPN or Health technician, and a Medical Support Assistant. The clinic is also well-supported by Social Work, Case Management, and Clinical Pharmacy. You will provide medical care services and evaluation of Veterans with compassion, and provide education and counseling of Veterans and families regarding preventive care, medical conditions, and treatment.

Work Hours: 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

Salary Range: $180s-$200s, depending on experience

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive available for highly qualified candidate

Selected candidate my be eligible for student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.

West Haven is a city in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. At the 2010 census, the population of the city was 55,564. The West Haven shore is one of the state’s foremost locations to observe rare shorebirds, serving as a migratory route for some of the most endangered bird species.

The Sandy Point Beach & Bird Sanctuary, one of the sites featured on the Connecticut Coastal Birding Trail, has been designated an “important bird area” by Audubon Connecticut. The estuary is also where Sammy the harp seal has been spotted.

Historic Bradley Point Park, boasting scenic panoramas of Long Island Sound, marks the area where invading British troops landed on July 5, 1779, and now serves as a haven for picnickers and passive recreation. The shoreline is just minutes from the downtown business and entertainment district.
