Opportunity to start Pediatric Hospitalist service

Baptist Health Fort Smith, is recruiting a Pediatrician who will have a clinic and also help cover the hospital at least ten days per month. This is a new opportunity that has been created to meet both patient and physician needs.

BHFS is a 492-bed hospital with a Level II NICU and an L&D service that delivers from 90-120 babies per month. Currently there is one employed pediatrician one private practice physician who covers the pediatric service at the hospital.

The recruitment need is for a physician who will manage the newborn inpatients (healthy babies as well as those in the NICU), the pediatric inpatients, and help to grow the program line. Currently the daily census in the hospital averages four infants in the NICU and two children. There is opportunity to grow this program line as there is only one other community hospital in town and the nearest Children’s Hospitals are either 67 miles to Springdale, AR or 160 miles to Little Rock, AR.

The ideal candidate will be a physician who is experienced and comfortable caring for inpatient newborns as well as those in the NICU and will collaborate care with other physicians and will work well with the nursing staff.
