Key Responsibilities:

The Medical Director of ThedaCare Medical Center - Shawano provides clinical leadership for patient care, quality improvement initiatives, provider clinical activities, clinical processes and workflows, resource management, and system integration for provision of care across the continuum. Fosters tight relationships as a system thinker connecting diverse care givers to improve coordination of care. Serves as dyad partner with the Director of Nursing for ThedaCare Medical Center - Shawano and is part of the Shawano hospital leadership team. Works collaboratively with medical staff leadership to promote high quality patient care, implement process improvement, and facilitate educational activities. Assures that performance improvement and utilization management plans of the medical center meet requirements of Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies.

Position Requirements:

Expected hours: 10 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Education – MD or DO and Board Certification in specialty
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice in Wisconsin
  • MBA, MS, MHA or similar degree or progress toward one is preferred
  • Five years experience as a physician with demonstrated leadership ability

Hospital Overview

The newly constructed ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, with an average daily census of 16 patients, and 2,300 admissions annually. This hospital serves 21,000 emergency patients annually. 

  • 24-Hour Emergency Care - Board Certified Emergency Medicine Staff available 24/7, with close connections to ThedaStar in the event of a transfer to a higher level care facility is necessary. 
  • Walk-In Care – No appointment necessary, 7-days a week.  Walk-in care can be used for minor illnesses and sports physicals. 
  • Family Birth Care – Designed to meet the needs of the patient and family with a home-like environment
