The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM), Temple University invites applications for a faculty position as Clinical Scholar in Health Informatics at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor rank (non-tenure track). We seek exceptional candidates with high quality informatics expertise and specific experience in leveraging electronic health data for translational research purposes.   Skills in interpretation of the research question, development and integration of executable queries across multi-dimensional electronic data systems, validation and documentation of data retrieval processes, creation of data transfer specifications, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams of investigators are critical to this position. Our advanced information system environment includes: inpatient and outpatient electronic health records, specifically EPIC; data warehousing platforms; and a variety of enterprise research information systems. As Assistant Dean for Clinical Informatics in LKSOM the incumbent will be responsible for executing a strategic plan for the informatics program and serve as the lead informatician for major clinical research projects. He/she will serve as the ‘honest broker’ to clinical researchers requesting data access and will have a key role in ‘translating’ research concepts into high quality health data extractions and interpretations. Successful candidates will provide institutional and national leadership in the field of health informatics through educational programs, peer-reviewed publications, and externally-funded research.

Requirements: All candidates must have a MD and additional training in information science.  At least five years of experience in health informatics is ideal.
