Section Head of Clinical Microbiology

The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Cleveland Clinic is recruiting for an academic clinical microbiologist as Section Head of Clinical Microbiology.  The Section has a long history of academic and clinical excellence.  Laboratories within the Section include specimen processing, bacteriology, virology, molecular microbiology, mycobacteriology, mycology, and parasitology.   These main campus laboratories support the microbiology testing needs for the Cleveland Clinic Health System hospitals and outpatient facilities.  We also provide coordination and guidance for testing needs throughout the enterprise.  Our microbiologists enjoy a close relationship with professional staff in Infectious Disease and Pharmacy.  We have an ACGME-accredited microbiology fellowship and there is opportunity for teaching of medical students, pathology residents, and students in our Medical Laboratory Science program.  Applicants should have an established track record of accomplishment within the field of clinical microbiology and demonstrated ability to lead an experienced group of microbiologists and technical staff.  Applicants must be certified in CP or combined AP/CP with specialty certification in Medical Microbiology by the American Board of Pathology.  Alternatively, applicants may have specialty certification in Medical and Public Health Microbiology by the American Board of Medical Microbiology. The Section of Clinical Microbiology is a dynamic, collaborative group and there is ample opportunity and support for clinical research as well as professional growth.
