The Jack C Montgomery VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Muskogee Oklahoma is seeking a inpatient psychiatrist to serve inpatient behavioral health service.

The Mental Health Service at the Jack C Montgomery VAMC is comprised of a close-knit, multidisciplinary group of practitioners.  The organization strives for collegial and supportive collaboration that promotes high-quality Veteran care and enhances job satisfaction.

Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Okla. which has 73 operating beds, including inpatient behavioral health and inpatient rehabilitation.  Since 1923, our staff has provided quality health care to Veterans in eastern Oklahoma. The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center has a proud legacy as we were the first VA Medical Center in the Nation to be named after a Native American.

On Nov. 30, 2006, the Muskogee VA Medical Center was rededicated as the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in honor of WWII Veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Jack C. Montgomery.  Our Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Tulsa is also named after a Native American.  On May 27, 2008, the Tulsa Clinic was rededicated as the Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic after Ernest Childers, a WWII Veteran and Medal of Honor recipient.

We offer a variety of primary and secondary levels of inpatient medical and surgical care, along with outpatient primary and consultative care in medicine, surgery and psychiatry.

The Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a primary medical and surgical facility located in Muskogee, OK, that provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services. Outpatient care is also provided at two community based outpatient clinics in Hartshorne and Tulsa, OK. The medical center serves a veteran population of more than 56,400 throughout eastern Oklahoma providing medical, surgical, primary care, and mental health services. It has 91 hospital beds. Federal Retirement Plan:

  • VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
  • How is the pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 8.3% of the employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 12.7% of the employee’s salary
  • Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service. For calendar year 2020, employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $19,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $25,500.
  • The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
  • For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
  • In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
  • Disability Retirement
  • Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years’ service
