Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia, is seeking a BC/BE PSYCHIATRIST to join our expanding team. Experience with an acute adult inpatient population is preferred. Both newly trained and experienced psychiatrists are encouraged to apply.  The Commonwealth of Virginia welcomes all applicants authorized to work in the U.S.!

Position Overview:

  • Inpatient facility with 302 adult beds (male & female)
  • Civil, Forensic, NGRI, Jail/Prison Transfers, & Geriatrics
  • Short and Long-term length of stay
  • Caseload of 10-20 patients
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM
  • Shared on-call duties – compensated
  • PCP coverage provided
  • Full complement of interdisciplinary team members employing Recovering Treatment Model

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (negotiable) commensurate with training and experience
  • $10,000 sign-on bonus
  • Up to $140,000 student loan repayment paid over four years with a four year employment agreement and eligibility to participate in the Virginia Student Loan Repayment Program

  • Board Certified / Board Eligible 
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree and completion of an accredited/approved psychiatry residency training program
  • Virginia State Medical License
  • DEA Registration
  • Experience with an acute, adult inpatient population is preferred
