Welcome to Jackson, MS!
Jackson's recreational and entertainment options appeal to a variety of people. Country clubbers are at home in Jackson's active social scene, and culture buffs will find plenty to do. Museums like the Mississippi Museum of Art and the Eudora Welty House & Garden are small but well-maintained. And downtown's popular Fondren district is a vibrant collection of restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.
If you're a hunter or a fisherman, you'll feel right at home in Jackson, but hikers, rock climbers, cyclists and rafters will find that the city proper lacks outdoor spaces designed for their hobbies. Still, several bodies of water, such as the Ross Barnett Reservoir, are great places to kayak, paddleboard and even sail. If you prefer to watch sports, the Mississippi Braves – the Atlanta Braves' AA farm team – play baseball in the suburb of Pearl. Meanwhile, the Mynelle Gardens and the Jackson State University Botanical Garden offer a more relaxing outdoor experience.

More than 7.9 million Veterans, their family members, and survivors are enrolled in the VA Health System, with more than 6.3 million seeking treatment each year. Currently, that annual treatment involves 773,600 inpatient visits and 60 million outpatient visits. About 250,000 full-time employees and 90,000 health professional trainees work in interdisciplinary care teams to deliver those patient services daily.
VA's patient population crosses a wide spectrum of individuals, from elderly World War II Veterans, to baby boomer Vietnam Vets, to today's younger heroes who served during the Gulf War era and in the present day Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. VA also serves a growing number of women Veterans, who currently account for seven percent of the total Veteran population.
The Best Care and the Best Careers…The mission of the Veterans Healthcare System is to serve the needs of America's veterans by providing primary care, specialized care, and related medical and social support services. To accomplish this mission, the VA needs to be a comprehensive, integrated healthcare system that provides excellence in health care value, excellence in service as defined by its customers, and excellence in education and research, and needs to be an organization characterized by exceptional accountability and by being an employer of choice.
