Job Description

The University of Central Florida/HCA Florida Healthcare (Greater Orlando/Osceola) Emergency Medicine Residency is seeking a Director of Residency Research/Core Faculty member.

The residency is based at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, which is teaching hospital for the UCF COM, and home to residency programs in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Transitional year, General Surgery and Transitional year, in addition to EM.
The department has a strong academic presence within the UCF/HCA Florida Healthcare consortium, with a track record of research and didactic presentations at national SAEM, CORD, and ACEP meetings. There is a dedicated research infrastructure, including a biostatistician, and several data analysts, as well as personal support for manuscript preparation and submission to academic journals. Through the healthcare system, there is access to one of the largest healthcare datasets nationwide. The educational program is innovative and cutting edge, with a state-of-the-art simulation center and four EM fellowship programs, in EMS, Emergency Ultrasound, Simulation and Medical Education.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Two years prior Core Faculty experience in an Emergency Medicine Residency and/or,
  • Emergency Medicine Research Experience and/or,
  • Completed a Research Fellowship

The role includes ample protected time with competitive compensation to perform academic duties. Responsibilities may include promoting and supporting research and scholarly activity of the faculty and residents, providing assistance/mentoring to faculty and residents in the development of research abstracts, posters and manuscripts, coordinating and monitoring residency research projects, overseeing and implementing the residency research and evidence based medicine curriculum, as well as other duties associated with being core faculty.

The position comes with academic appointment to the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, with traditional opportunities for academic advancement and promotion.
