The city of La Grange is one of only a few communities in the United States with an active rail track running through the heart of the city’s business and historic district. The historic district is home to numerous small business such as shops, restaurants, coffee shops and art galleries. LaGrange hosts a weekly farmers and artisan market, where locally made items are sold on Saturdays from mid-May through late October, situated on the county’s beautiful courthouse lawn. 

In addition, this lawn hosts a yearly art show that attracts artists and merchants from across the country!Located in Oldham County, LaGrange offers a top tier public school system. More specifically, it is ranked in the top 4% of districts throughout Kentucky with a preschool, ten elementary, four middle, three high, an alternative school, a career center and a center for the arts and community education.

The hospital also manages Oldham County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), which is a service owned by the Oldham County Ambulance Taxing District. Oldham County EMS is operated by Baptist Health, in partnership with the Oldham County Ambulance Taxing District and Fiscal Court.
