The Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital is seeking an Ophthalmologist to join our team! This position requires academic appointment with our affiliate at Loyola. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in research and teaching (residents and medical students). You will perform duties of clinical, administrative and research management that included: Conducting clinics several times per week and providing pre-operative and postoperative ophthalmology services for surgical patients; performing and supervising ophthalmic surgery including laser procedures in the operating room, minor surgery room, and laser room; providing non-operative ophthalmology hospital rounds for ophthalmology patients; educating residents and students in the principles and therapy of complex and basic ophthalmology surgery and services

More than 7.9 million Veterans, their family members, and survivors are enrolled in the VA Health System, with more than 6.3 million seeking treatment each year. Currently, that annual treatment involves 773,600 inpatient visits and 60 million outpatient visits. About 250,000 full-time employees and 90,000 health professional trainees work in interdisciplinary care teams to deliver those patient services daily.
