Lifespan Physician Group (LPG): Rhode Island Hospital & Hasbro Children’s Hospital, affiliated hospitals of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University have an opening for a board certified or eligible child & adolescent psychiatrist to join our Partial Hospital Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. This is a day treatment program specifically for children and adolescents with medical and psychiatric comorbidities. Opportunities for Brown University Clinical Faculty appointment if desired.

About the Job:

  • Treat children and teens with co-existing medical and psychiatric disorders using a family-based approach
  • Patients have a diverse range of comorbid issues/diagnoses (eg, chronic medical illness nonadherence, somatic symptom disorders, eating disorders)
  • Psychiatrist works alongside an assigned psychologist and pediatrician for each clinical case, and functions as the primary clinician for a small portion of case assignment
  • Psychiatrist facilitates a small number of weekly group therapy sessions
  • Regular collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, inclusive of psychology, pediatrics, nutrition, pediatric nursing, social work, and rehab services when indicated, promoting team-based clinical decision-making/management
  • There are 2 other child psychiatrists on the Hasbro PHP team, plus trainees (child psychiatry fellows, triple board residents, general psychiatry residents, medical students)
  • Typical case load is 8-9 patients. Additional compensation is provided for weeks when caseload exceeds this due to vacation coverage for one of the other psychiatrists on the team
  • Opportunity to collaborate professionally with 20-30 child psychiatrists across the greater system
  • Work Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Weekend call approximately 4 weekends per year in-person (covering inpatients in the hospital with two other MDs and fellow/resident support) compensated in addition to salary
  • Overnight phone call 8-9 nights per year
  • Academic appointment with the opportunity to teach and provide supervision
  • Collaborative research opportunities if interested
