Ocular Oncology

The Havener Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University is a growing practice. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time clinician or clinician-scientist faculty position in the specialty area of Ocular Oncology. This is an open search for tenure or non-tenure track at the Assistant Professor level or higher, commensurate with experience. Faculty candidates will be responsible for patient care, research, and education primarily in our new OSU multi-specialty medical office buildings and surgical suites in the metro Columbus area.  Participation in coverage at Columbus VA is also required.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James):
The OSUCCC – James strives to create a cancer-free world by integrating scientific research with excellence in education and patient-centered care, a strategy that leads to better methods of prevention, detection, and treatment. Ohio State is one of 52 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers and one of only a few centers funded by the NCI to conduct both phase I and II clinical trials on anticancer drugs sponsored by the NCI. In addition, as a part of Ohio State’s Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery, specialized surgeons work with our eight da Vinci® robots to perform state-of-the-art robotic surgery and microsurgery. Our chosen candidate will join OSUCCC-James and OSU DOVS as we continue to grow our ocular oncology subspecialty and reputation as a regional leader for these services. We currently collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at the James to ensure coordination of care for our patients. We strive to strengthen this collaborative relationship through growing our ocular oncology team and continuing to streamline our care pathways for patients.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment, and be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. Qualified candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology.  Subspecialty training in a Retina or Ocular Oncology fellowship is required. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Knowledge and proficiency in the medical and surgical management area of subspecialty. Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications. Commitment to the resident, fellow, and medical student education is required.
