The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time, Clinician-Educator track position, available at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical.?The Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical will provide Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services at the University of Miami Hospital System, Jackson Health System, and the Miami VAMC.

 

Job Functions:

  • Didactic/clinical teaching and supervision of OMFS residents, providing direct patient care, surgery, consultative services, outpatient services and care of hospitalized patients, as part of the faculty practice - including on-call coverage, participation in research, and other collaborative activities

  • Promote the mission of UHealth in achieving its role in providing medical education, research, and quality patient care 

  • Participate in international, national, regional, and local activities within the health care industry, which impact the future role of the Divisional Surgical Areas funding environment 

  • Participate in Oral Surgery Service and residency training at the VAMC 

  • Serve in key activities for the Department of Surgery as agreed upon with the Division Chief 

  • Responsible for clinical care in all aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery as well as working collaboratively with the other physicians in the division 

  • Will be involved in resident supervision both at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veteran’s Administration Hospital. In addition, this position will require teaching of students in both junior and senior elective programs as sponsored by this Division within the students’ surgical experience 

  • Responsible for pursuing protocols to fund experiments under own supervision 

  • Documents all services in patient medical records 

  • Comply to Departmental Policy & Procedures & Hospital Bylaws 

  • Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eligible candidates must have completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, be board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) or be eligible for Board certification

  • Experience in broad scope oral and maxillofacial surgery is mandatory

  • Oral and Maxillofacial Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular reconstructive fellowship is required  

  • MD and DDS or DMD and be licensed to practice dentistry and medicine in a state,?territory?or commonwealth of the United States, required

  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents, required

  • Experience in broad scope oral and maxillofacial surgery is mandatory

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; display initiative, a positive attitude, flexibility, demonstrate a commitment to the department's mission; and hold themselves to the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct

 

This is a salaried position with a potential bonus and with a generous benefit and retirement program. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.?
