Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist

Children’s Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) - Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is seeking two BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialists at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. The candidates should have strong clinical skills. Clinical responsibilities of the position will include inpatient consultations and outpatient visits in the Infectious Diseases clinic. Evidence of success in teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and fellows is desired. Academic endeavors are encouraged including participation in bench, clinical research, quality improvement activities, and graduate medical education. Opportunities in antimicrobial stewardship are also available.

The Division staff currently consists of 11 ID faculty, 3 postdoctoral fellows in its accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship training program: 4 ID nurse practitioners, 2 PharmD, and a PhD. Seven research coordinators support the ID clinical research efforts.  The Division has a strong collaborative relationship with the CMKC Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and its Director, as well as ongoing grant funded studies as part of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Rapid Diagnostics in Underprivileged (RADxUp) communities, Missouri American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network (IMPAACT). We are also a CDC National Vaccine Surveillance Network site and have ongoing funding from extramural foundations and Biopharma. 

Infectious diseases faculty, fellows, and APRNs care for approximately 1700 outpatients annually including patients at the International Adoption, Special Immunology, and Travel Medicine Clinics. Over 1500 new inpatient consults are seen annually including ~300 on the Immune Compromised Host service.
