At Advocate Sherman Hospital, we perform more open heart surgeries than any other hospital in our region. Over a recent two-year period, we performed 1,100 cardiac procedures – including 140 open heart surgeries, 650 interventions and nearly 300 insertions of permanent pacemakers and/or implantable cardioverter devices (ICD). Studies have shown that high patient volumes like ours correlate to better outcomes for our patients and their hearts.
