Lancaster is a diverse small city in northern Los Angeles County in Southern California's Antelope Valley. The population was 173,516 in the 2020 census, making Lancaster the 153rd-largest city in the U.S. and the 30th-largest in California. Lancaster is a twin city with its southern neighbor, Palmdale. Together, the twin cities are home to aircraft, aerospace, and electronic industries; Edwards Air Force Base is northeast of the city and the site of many space shuttle landings. Lancaster is approximately 70 miles (110 km) north of downtown Los Angeles.
