Banner Children's Specialists provide comprehensive pediatric care from general to emergency, as well as services for specific childhood diseases. Highly trained physician specialists, social services staff and numerous integrative therapy programs ensure a complete range of care for children. We have a child-friendly atmosphere accented by soothing colors and dedicated play areas, as well as a volunteer dog therapy program that helps cheer up young patients during their stays. We are located on two medical campuses:
Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is the fourth largest hospital in the Phoenix metropolitan area with 513 licensed beds. No one in the West Valley provides the level of care to kids that Banner Thunderbird does. Within the hospital is the highly regarded Banner Thunderbird Children’s Center, a dedicated area for pediatrics that includes 40 pediatric inpatient beds and the West Valley’s only pediatric intensive care unit capable of caring for the most critically ill or injured children. In addition, Banner Thunderbird has a separate emergency department for children.
Healing Environment: Banner Thunderbird realizes that many factors contribute to patients’ healing and our hospital reflects that with natural light, soothing paint colors, relaxing artwork and private rooms, when available. A recently completed $290 million expansion project added a spacious and comfortable main lobby, a patient/family library, a heart and vascular center, state-of-the-art surgical suites and a 200-bed patient tower to the campus. The new tower includes a new Emergency department and all-private rooms featuring large windows, comfortable seating/sleeping areas for loved ones, wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, nurse stations outside every room, and 32-inch flat panel televisions.
