SMSC was originally founded in 1926. It is a well-respected multi-specialty group practice dedicated to providing complete medical care and preventive medicine. The medical community is comprised primarily of SMSC physicians with a few independent physicians. SMSC has 27 physicians on staff, three nurse practitioners, a registered dietitian as well as 2 certified diabetes educators. Routine laboratory and radiology testing is available in house. The laboratory is certified by Clinical Office Laboratory Association (COLA) and mammography is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Other services offered include cardiac stress test and holter monitor. The radiology department provides routine and diagnostic x-rays, MRI, CT scans (joint ventured with HMEC), nuclear medicine, screening and diagnostic mammography, bone density, diagnostic abdominal, OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound. In our on-going effort to provide quality health care, SMSC is proud to announce the addition of the new Surgical & Endoscopic Center of Stephenville. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2006, patients will now have a choice for outpatient surgery. The surgery center will contain two operating suites and a procedure room for routine endoscopic procedures. The facility will be for procedures that are to be performed in an ambulatory setting. The new, modern facility is SMSC’s continued commitment to our community and the patients we serve. The local hospital is owned by Texas Health Resources which includes the Harris Methodist Health System of Ft Worth. The hospital is modern, very well equipped and JCAHO accredited. The hospital includes surgical suites, expanded emergency department with 24-hour physician staffing and a Women's Center which includes a delivery room and LDRP rooms.
