*Job Title:* Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - TBI Day Program & Residential Support
*Location:* Grand Rapids, MI
*Job Type:* Full-Time
*Schedule:* Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm
*About the Role:*
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate *Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)* to join our interdisciplinary team serving adults with *traumatic brain injuries (TBI)*. This role provides services in a *structured day program* that involves a *residential semi-independent living environment*, with a focus on promoting skill development, independence, and community integration.
The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator with experience in neurorehabilitation or behavioral health and a passion for helping individuals achieve their personal goals in recovery and independent living.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Day Program Support (TBI-focused):*
* Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of an OTR/L
* Facilitate therapeutic group activities focusing on cognitive, physical, and social skill development
* Assist clients in practicing life skills including vocational, culinary, janitorial, and art based project tasks
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (e.g., PT, SLP, case managers) to support client progress
* Monitor and document client performance, behavior, and progress toward goals
*Residential Component:*
* Provide on-site OT support
* Assist residents with functional tasks to maintain independence in a home-like environment
* Promote safety awareness, home management skills, and community re-entry strategies
* Conduct periodic skill assessments and recommend adaptations or strategies for improved functioning
* Support client participation in recreational and social community activities
*Qualifications:*
* Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
* Current *Michigan COTA license* in good standing
* *Prior experience with TBI or neurorehabilitation* preferred
* CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* *Ability to pass a background and drug screen*
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative team
