*Position Overview:*
The *Intensivist Medical Director* will provide clinical leadership and oversight for the ICU program, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered critical care. This individual will play a vital role in both administrative and clinical domains, ensuring the ICU program operates in alignment with Benchmark's standards and strategic goals. The Director will act as a key liaison between hospital leadership, ICU clinical teams, and Benchmark management.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*1. Hospital Leadership Engagement:*
* Meet regularly with the hospital CEO or their designee to review ICU operations, strategic priorities, and performance metrics.
* Collaborate with nursing, quality, and other key departments to promote integration and effective communication.
*2. Committee and Meeting Participation:*
* Attend monthly Intensivist department meetings.
* Participate in relevant hospital, administrative, and clinical meetings to support departmental alignment.
*3. Clinical Excellence:*
* Assist in developing and updating ICU protocols and procedures that enhance quality, safety, and the patient/family experience.
* Oversee and guide providers in implementing best practices that improve outcomes and satisfaction among patients, families, and staff.
*4. Benchmark Collaboration:*
* Participate in monthly meetings with Benchmark management to evaluate the Intensivist program and align initiatives with organizational priorities.
* Attend quarterly Benchmark Directors' Summits to collaborate and share insights with peers across the network.
*5. Workforce Development:*
* Partner with the recruitment team to build and sustain a pipeline of qualified intensivist providers.
* Interview, assess, and onboard new intensivist candidates in alignment with clinical and cultural expectations.
*6. Professional Representation:*
* Represent Benchmark and its affiliates at local and national conferences, as needed.
* Advocate for Benchmark's critical care model through presentations and professional engagements.
*7. Clinical Practice:*
* Maintain an active clinical presence by working ICU shifts, in accordance with Independent Contractors Agreements.
*Qualifications:*
* MD or DO with Board Certification in Critical Care Medicine
* Unrestricted medical license in the state of California (or eligibility to obtain)
* Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in an ICU setting
* Prior leadership or administrative experience strongly preferred
* Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
* Demonstrated success in working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Commitment to excellence in patient care and quality improvement
*Compensation:*
* Competitive and commensurate with experience
* Includes clinical compensation per the terms of Independent Contractors Agreements
